Deprecated

In software development the term deprecated is used to discourage usage of a particular software feature.   Usually this is due to that the feature has been superseded by a new/better version.

The IPC@CHIP® documentation marks functions as deprecated which should no longer be used by the software developer since there is a new/better function available.   The function which should be used instead is listed in the respective deprecated notice. Nevertheless the various deprecated functions will continue to be supported for backwards compatibility with older software.
